BU 35 1974 March Jenckes mansion at 837-839 Social Street at Mill Street. Built in 1828, federal style architecture owned by the Jenckes family who had a major interest in the Social Manufacturing Company. This village, which contained 2 mills (one at 96 Mill Street (oldest existing mill in city, built in 1822) and a second mill built in 1828 at 767 Social Street, was known as Jenckesville and was one of the six villages that eventually comprised Woonsocket.
